Margaret Roberts is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of California, San Diego. She also serves as a co-director at the China Data Lab at the 21st Century China Center. Her research interests lie in the intersection of political methodology and the politics of information, with a specific focus on methods of automated content analysis and the politics of censorship in China. With respect to social media, her work has focused on reverse-engineering Internet censorship in China, estimating the effects of censorship, and developing new algorithms to analyze large amounts of text. Her research has appeared in the American Journal of Political Science, American Political Science Review, Political Analysis, and Science.
