Jonathan Nagler wins Society of Political Methodology's Career Achievement Award

CSMAP Co-Director, Jonathan Nagler, is the 2026 winner of the Society for Political Methodology’s Career Achievement Award. This award is the highest honor bestowed by the Society and recognizes the foundational, distinguished, and sustained contributions to the field and the Society made by the recipients over their careers.

As noted by the Society: “Nagler’s early work included development of methods for discrete choice models, while his more recent work includes substantive contributions regarding voter turnout in American elections and voting behavior more broadly. In the last decade, he has been a leading contributor to computational social science. His recent papers have investigated aspects of social media data, combining original survey data with social media consumption in novel ways, and participating in the rapid changes in computational methodology. During his tenure at NYU, Nagler has facilitated progress in the computation methodologies and has trained a number of postdocs who have gone on to make important contributions in the field.”

In addition to his role at CSMAP, Nagler is also a Professor of Politics and affiliated faculty at the Center for Data Science at NYU. He was the President of the Society of Political Methodology from 2001 – 2003 and an Inaugural Fellow of the Society.
