Swapneel Mehta

Swapneel Mehta earned his Ph.D. in Data Science in 2023, researching how to limit the effects of online misinformation. He is the founder of SimPPL, an organization that helps local news understand online audiences. Swapneel is a Computer Engineer by training and has previously worked on graph neural network-based recommendation systems at Adobe Research and machine learning for particle physics at CERN. He has held postdoctoral positions at Boston University and MIT. His work spans AI safety, digital platform governance, and reproductive health tech through Sakhi, an MIT-incubated venture he also co-founded.
