Nejla Ašimović is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania's Institute for the Study of Citizens and Politics. She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from New York University in May 2023. Her research sits at the intersection of political communication, political behavior, and ethnic politics.

Ašimović's research is focused on understanding group dynamics within deeply divided societies, with a specific emphasis on the effects of social media on interethnic relations in post-conflict and ethnically polarized societies. She primarily employs an experimental approach, integrating quantitative data from randomized controlled trials and surveys with textual analysis of online content and in-depth interviews.
